LAWN MAINTENANCE

Your lawn is where your family and friends gather and play.  Greenscene can keep your lawn healthy and beautiful and protect your investment with the following maintenance services.

MOWING
The length of the mowing season depends on the severity of the Winter.  We usually start mowing in February and end our weekly mowing in December.  

RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY: Weekly
PERIOD OF SERVICE: February - December

HERBICIDE APPLICATION
Natural areas are inspected on each visit.  Noxious weeds are spot treated if present in the garden or natural areas.

RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY: Monthly
PERIOD OF SERVICE: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.

FERTILIZING
Applications of Fertilizer promotes a healthy lawn.  It is important to fertilize new lawns as well as existing turf areas.  

RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY: Four times yearly.
PERIOD OF SERVICE: March, May, July, Sept.

PRE-EMERGENT HERBICIDE
Our program consist of three applications.  Two in the Spring of the year and one in the Fall.  The dual Spring applications are important to control crabgrass and other broadleaf weeds.  The timing of these applications may vary depending on weather and soil temperatures.

RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY:Three times yearly
PERIOD OF SERVICE: Spring and Fall

PRUNING
Proper pruning of ornamental shrubs and trees promotes healthier plants.  We are able to assess each plant in your garden and use the correct method of pruning at the correct time of the year.  

RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY: Twice a year.
PERIOD OF SERVICE: As required

MULCHING
Adding mulch to your natural areas and gardens will protect valuable plants from cold weather, help prevent invasive weeds, keep moisture in the ground during Summer months, and keep your natural areas looking clean. 

RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY: Twice a year.
PERIOD OF SERVICE: Before Summers heat and before Winter's cold.

RESEEDING
Shaded lawns should be re-seeded every year.  Lawns that receive full sunlight should be re-seeded at a minimum of every three years.

RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY: Once a year.
PERIOD OF SERVICE: Spring or Fall

POST EMERGENT HERBICIDE
A post emergent herbicide deters weeds that have already established themselves in the lawn.  Our applications are applied Spring and Summer.  The timing of these applications may vary depending on weather and soil temperatures. 

RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY: Once a year.
PERIOD OF SERVICE: Spring or Summer

LIME APPLICATION
In the East most lawns need adjusting annually with an application of lime to "sweeten" the soil.  This helps keep the pH level in the proper range.  This is most effective when done during the Winter months. 

RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY: Once a year.
PERIOD OF SERVICE: November

AERATING
Core lawn surface breaks up the compacted soil has occurred over the years, promotes root growth, and allows nutrients to penetrate the thatch barrier that exists in most lawns.  this is required for reseeding to promote seed germination.  

RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY: Once a year.
PERIOD OF SERVICE: Spring or Fall

PLANTING NEW TREES AND SHRUBS
Fall, Winter and Spring are opportune times to plant new trees and shrubs. 

RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY: As Requested
PERIOD OF SERVICE: Fall, Winter, and Spring

CLEAN UPS
Greenscene provides a spring cleanup that includes establishing a solid base of cleanliness and professional service for the remainder of the season. This cleanup is designed for the customer to increase the property value and reduce service costs for the next year.
